About the Artist

I am Robert Nava. I live in Southern California, where I work as a freelance artist. I began my pursuit of art with a love for hand-drawn animation, especially Disney animation. But, eventually, my passion slowly shifted toward other forms of graphic art, my favorite being anything done with a computer.

In high school, my main source of work began with business cards; designing them on the computer, printing them, and cutting them by hand. I still do it to this day as an extra source of income. I wish I had the resources to print and cut them professionally, but my customers seem to enjoy them. Some prefer to limit how many cards they give out, because they like them so much. I suppose it's a testament to my work.

I still draw and paint when I need a change of pace, which isn't too often. I'm always looking for other forms of art that intrigue me. One of my biggest passions of late is designing paper models (card models) and other papercraft, which are a real crowd pleaser. Even the folks at Walt Disney Imagineering are enjoying them, as evident in this email message:

"I was at Imagineering about two weeks ago. As we were walking through the halls, the Imagineer giving the tour was telling us stories about what goes on. He said that during a bring-your-kid-to-work day, Chris Crump (Rolly Crump's son) held a break-out group where the kids got to assemble a model. I asked which model, and he showed me. It was your Tower of Terror model. [The tour guide] said that people at Imagineering LOVE to build those things. I just thought I would e-mail and let you know that. It would literally be an honor."

Indeed, it is. I have three copies of that email printed out.
